Lifting Fog Live: Simian Mobile Disco Melts Minds in LA

March 18, 2009

Last night I was on ecstasy. NOW HOLD ON A MINUTE. I know what you’re thinking… what would McKay Hatch think about that? Well don’t worry, McKay, Mom, and Dad – I was high on MUSIC last night. Although the dazzling array of lights could have easily convinced me I was on Ecstasy, I’m quite sure I wasn’t. Simian Mobile Disco came to LA last night and played a high octane set at the notoriously indie scenester Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood. The sold out show was packed full of people of all races, creeds, religion, and varying Vans authentic shoes/girl jeans combinations. But despite the varying tastes and shapes, everyone was there for one collective purpose: TO DANCE! (If you keep reading… there’s video!)

So keep reading!

I’m Going Back To Jersey

December 15, 2008

The late, great LL Cool J (Editor’s note: LL resides in Manhasset, NY with his wife and four children) has got my mind on loop once again (the last time was his hit “Doin’ It”, just check those repetitive chorus lyrics). This time it’s his classic track “I’m Going Back To Cali.” On the contrary, I am going back to Jersey this week, but given that Cali and Jersey have the same amount of syllables and rhyme scheme I think the comparison is fair. But is the comparison fair beyond the point of semantics? I thought I’d take a moment and reflect on some of the things I’ve learned  since moving across the country nigh on 6 months ago. (Note: these are just a few things).

Ardent reflection after the jump!

You Served Me Dinner in Hollywood, CA

October 21, 2008
You looked something like this

You looked something like this

You were serving me dinner at Chili’s. I had the Chicken Crispers (lol diet, yeah right!) and I was mostly txting on my LG Rumor. I noticed your beautiful smile when I ordered a root beer, but acted like I wanted to share a Bud Light with you after your shift. You were the most beautiful brown-haired, brown-eyed Chili’s waitress I’ve ever seen at this Chili’s, and I felt like we had a real connection. Like when our hands touched as I handed you my (Dad’s) debit card. Also, I knew when you asked me “Is there anything else I can get for you today?” and “Do you need more salsa?” what you were really asking lolz. Ur so funny like that! I’ll be back to eat next Tuesday. (My family goes every Tues., SO LAME) Marry me?

Sincerely,
Blue eyes and in luv
